Diabetes
Diabetes is diagnosed when a person has too much glucose (sugar) in the blood. This occurs because the body is not producing enough insulin to keep blood glucose levels in the normal range. Currently there is no cure for diabetes but it can be controlled and a person with diabetes can lead a full and active life.
Our diabetes clinic aims to create partnerships between doctors, nurses and patients with diabetes.
Our doctors and nurses can provide information on lifestyle and treatment options, and support as you make choices about how to manage your health.
A team of diabetes nurses manage many aspects of the clinic, including education, annual reviews, referrals, advice and support on issues such as diet, blood glucose testing, medication (including starting and adjusting of insulin) and many other concerns.
